Susi Fookes Artist
On Kiwiology since: November 11th, 2007I see painting as capturing a moment, a thought, a colour, a mood. It does what we often forget: to pause. My work is about choosing to see beauty in the small, unique in the usual and noticing those moments that are easily missed. I graduated from Waikato Polytechnic in 2000 having completed a Bachelor of Media Arts majoring in moving image. However, I cannot shake my fascination with static images. I love simple imagery; it invites its audience to create their own narrative and conclusions. I am addicted to using shellac. Nostalgia is a colour tinted with shellac - an aging colour photograph.
