Ruggerblogger
On Kiwiology since: December 7th, 2008Why is that only middle aged men get to talk about rugby in the mainstream media in New Zealand?
This blog proves an anecdote to this life long question because ruggerblogger is all about rugby from a female perspective. Looks at All Black rugby, the great north hemisphere / south hemisphere divide, and asks questions about the mainstream media both in New Zealand and internationally as well as the politics of the sport.
Some lighthearted topics, videos and pics will entertain - and some not so lighthearted topics will hopefully make you think.

“The orange is an icon of NZ sport.
It is the thing that binds sport together. Without the orange, there would be no half time. Without a half time there would be no second half.
Except if you were playing ice hockey when the game is in three parts. Or basketball or netball in four quarters. But you get my point.
The Orange also makes reference to a couple of vegetables: The Onion and the Kumara (sadly deeply buried somewhere now).

sports thought
On Kiwiology since: November 11th, 2007I don’t profess to be a journalist or have any more credibility than the average bloke at the pub. But like that average bloke, I’ve got opinions on important things like sport - and here you can read them.
Mainly I talk about:
League: During winter I am convinced league is hands down the greatest sport ever.
Cricket: During summer I am convinced cricket is hands down the greatest sport ever.
Rugby: During the entire year I am convinced that Rugby is a pretty boring, but it’s our national game and I want to see the AB’s do well.

Nathan Rarere’s playing skills were instantly recognised by Hastings Boys’ High School rugby coaches, whose game-plans aimed solely at keeping him away from where the ball was, for the good of the team.
Nate turned out to be a lot more use on the sideline - especially in media roles. He has covered Super 12/14 and All Black rugby for seven years and now hosts Radio Live’s Rugby Show at 2-4pm on Saturdays.

Yellow Fever
On Kiwiology since: October 29th, 2007Supporters of Wellington Phoenix FC.
From time to time we get asked, who is Yellow Fever? It’s a helluva tricky question to answer. Like any religion or sweeping pandemic it’s pretty hard to pin down, and impossible to deliver any definitive list of the afflicted.
Is Yellow Fever everybody bantering about football or biffing Aussie commentators on the messageboards? Is Yellow Fever everyone packed into the general region of Aisle 22 at the Ring of Fire? Is Yellow Fever simply everyone who roots for the Phoenix or is a fan of the beautiful game in this country?
The answer is probably all three, and many more.
